The Tier 1 General visa category was closed for extensions as of 6 April 2015 and therefore any application for extension of Tier 1 General visa must have been made to the Home Office on or before 5 April 2015.
ILR under Tier 1 General visa category is only possible before 6 April 2018 and it will no longer be possible to apply for ILR on or after 6 April 2018.
Those who are on Tier 1 General migrant visa and cannot apply for ILR as a Tier 1 General migrant can switch into other visa categories. You can switch from Tier 1 General Migrant visa to any of the following categories depending on meeting the relevant requirements of the category you wish to switch into:
- Tier 1 Entrepreneur
- Tier 1 Investor
- Tier 2 General
- Tier 2 Minister of Religion
- Tier 2 Sportsperson
- Application as PBS Dependant of another PBS Migrant
- Spouse Visa as a spouse of a settled person
- Civil Partner visa as a civil partner of a settled person
- Unmarried Partner visa as an unmarried partner of a settled person
- Same Sex Partner Visa as a Same Sex Partner of a settled person
- Residence Card as Family Member of an EEA national exercising treaty rights in the UK
- ILR under the 10 years long residence category if during the validity of your Tier 1 General leave you have completed 10 years long residence
- Application for leave to remain as a parent of a child who is British Citizen
- Application for leave to remain as a parent of a child who has lived in the UK continuously for 7 years
- Application for leave to remain on the basis of private life
